NORTHWEST KANSAS
A coalition of County Democratic Parties, other groups such as Food and Farm Caucus, and individual Democrats are working together to strenthen the political outreach and connections in Northwest Kansas. We have dubbed this the “Northwest Initiative”, which held its kick-off with the Common Ground candidate forum held in Oberlin in April, 2026.

Some Recent Highlights
Organization of new parties in Smith Co, Sheridan Co, and Gove Co. More new County reorganization meetings coming.
A roundtable of interested Northwest democrats are meeting regularly to plan more events, contact us for more information on how to join.
Recruitment of candidates for northwest Kansas races, including Lorie Wood for State School Board District 5, an area that encompasses nearly all of western Kansas. More announcements will be made soon on regional races in Northwest, once the filing deadline is complete on June 1. See listing for candidates.
Thomas and Ellis Counties in the northwest continue to be pillars of activity and organization, and both are members of Harvest Blue. Decatur Co party organized in fall 2025 and is a member of Harvest Blue
Similar outreach and networking efforts are expanding to other districts in the state - with Food and Farm Caucus putting their next focus into Southwest Kansas and Southeast. - while also maintaining our activity and connection levels in Central Kansas and the Northeast. Volunteers welcomed!
