Why Rural Kansas Needs a Strong Democratic Voice
Rural Kansas is often overlooked in political conversations, but the decisions made in Topeka and Washington affect our daily lives just as much as anyone else's—maybe more. From farm policy to healthcare access, from school funding to infrastructure investment, the policies that shape our communities are decided by elected officials.
That's why it matters that rural Kansans have a seat at the table. The Democratic Party has a long history of supporting rural America, from rural electrification to farm programs that help family farmers compete. Today, we continue that tradition by fighting for:
- Fair prices and markets for agricultural products
- Expansion of rural broadband
- Protection of Medicare and Social Security
- Investment in rural healthcare facilities
- Adequate funding for small-town schools
- Infrastructure improvements for rural roads and bridges
We in Decatur County believe rural Kansas deserves leaders who understand our challenges and fight for our communities. Finding and electing those leaders is a large part of what the Decatur County Democratic Party is all about.
